SUPPORT IN ADDICTION RECOVERY in English

Support in addiction recovery aims to help individuals struggling with psychoactive substance abuse or harmful habits regain health and reclaim their lives. This process usually includes psychotherapy, addiction education, counselling, social support, and, in some cases, medical treatment (managed in collaboration with a psychiatrist).

Psychotherapy for addiction may involve identifying negative behaviour patterns and replacing them with healthy coping strategies; changing thoughts and beliefs that drive and sustain the addiction; working on improving relationships; and fostering strong social support. Psychoeducation focuses on broadening understanding of addiction mechanisms, its impact on physical health and daily life, as well as treatment options and relapse prevention. The counselling component, meanwhile, provides emotional support and practical guidance for navigating challenges in the recovery process

Addiction support is intended for individuals who struggle with substance misuse (such as alcohol, drugs, or medication) or addictive behaviours (e.g. gambling, internet use, pornography), notice their negative impact on personal or professional life, and wish to better understand their relationship with them.

These sessions may be helpful for people at different stages of reflecting on change – from early doubts, through the decision to reduce or give up a particular substance or behaviour, to difficulties in putting these changes into practice.
